Spotlight on: Talitha’s embroidered wool fitted jacket
This week on our homepage…
It’s the beginning of autumn and what better time to feature our embroidered wool fitted jacket. There are so many things we love about this piece… the black velvet shoulder and collar details; the hand embroidered velvet appliqué motifs inspired by antique African embroidery; the hand-worked cord detailing at the front and on the cuffs; the beautiful hand embroidered turquoise beads and the brick red and deep purple beading right next to it; the cosy black felted-wool base made from a blend of British yarns, and of course that beautiful lining. “For SS17, we created a few feature pieces that used an Ikat fabric so we lined the jacket with a silk fabric that nods to that collection,” says Talitha co-founder Shon Randhawa.
“I really love the scooped hip length of this jacket because you can wear it so many ways,” says Talitha co-founder Kim Hersov. “When we were doing the AW17 shoot, we teamed the jacket with our turquoise button down blouse and a pair of velvet shorts for a dressed-up look, but you can easily wear it with a flared black cropped trouser, cigarette pants or a fitted black skirt. To wear it casually, throw a scoop-necked white T-shirt underneath and pair with flared cropped denim jeans or pale-blue skinnies and wear with trainers or ankle boots.”
